چکیده

This paper employs the Input-to-State Stability (ISS) framework to investigate the robustness of discrete-time Piece-Wise Affine (PWA) systems in closed-loop with Model Predictive Controllers (MPC), or hybrid MPC for short. We show via an example taken from literature that stabilizing hybrid MPC can generate MPC values functions that are not ISS Lyapunov functions for arbitrarily small additive disturbances. As a consequence, it is not easy to prove that nominally stabilizing hybrid MPC schemes are robust. This motivates the need to design MPC schemes for hybrid systems with an a priori robust stability guarantee. A possible solution to this problem was recently developed by the authors for a particular class of PWA systems, i.e. when the origin lies in the interior of one of the regions in the partition. The main contribution of this paper is a novel dual-mode MPC algorithm for hybrid systems with an a priori ISS guarantee. This MPC scheme is applicable to general PWA systems, i.e. when the origin may lie on the boundaries of multiple regions in the partition. Copyright c ©2006 IFAC

Second Order Sliding Mode Control With Finite Time Convergence

In this paper, a new smooth second order sliding mode control is proposed. This algorithm is a modified form of Super Twisting algorithm. The Super Twisting guarantees the asymptotic stability, but the finite time stability of proposed method is proved with introducing a new particular Lyapunov function. The Proposed algorithm which is able to control nonlinear systems with matched structured u...

Robust Model Predictive Control for a Class of Discrete Nonlinear systems

This paper presents a robust model predictive control scheme for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems subject to state and input constraints. Each subsystem is composed of a nominal LTI part and an additive uncertain non-linear time-varying function which satisfies a quadratic constraint. Using the dual-mode MPC stability theory, a sufficient condition is constructed for synthesizing the ...

Terminal Sliding Mode Control for Nonlinear Systems with both Matched and Unmatched Uncertainties

In this paper, we extend the sliding mode idea to a class of unmatched uncertain variable structure systems. This method is achieved with introducing a new terminal sliding variable and the finite time stability of proposed method is proved using a new particular finite time condition in both reaching and sliding phases. In reaching phase new sliding mode controller is derived to guarantee the ...

A Chance–constrained Robust Mpc and Application to Hot Rolling Mills

Most approaches of chance–constrained robust MPC utilise an open– loop model for uncertainty prediction; this results in conservative control. To avoid this some approaches propose robust MPC (RMPC) based on closed–loop prediction, and these often give improved dynamic performance at a small expense to constraint handling performance. The aim of this paper is to extend the methodology of (Warre...

Optimal Integral Sliding Mode Controller of a UAV With Considering Actuator Fault

In this paper, using the State Dependent Riccati Equation (SDRE) method, we propose a Robust Optimal Integral Sliding Mode Controller (ROISMC) to guarantee an optimal control law for a quadrotor which has become increasingly important by virtue of its high degrees of manoeuvres ability in presence of unknown time-varying external disturbances and actuator fault. The robustness of the controller...
